At Fibre Tech Carpet Care Ltd, we offer a full concierge style area rug cleaning service for our clients in Victoria and surrounding areas. From start to finish, you’ll experience professional, experienced customer service that will have you coming back year after year.
Our area rug cleaning service begins with free pick up. If you’d like to have your area rug rolled up and ready for us at the front door, this will be a quick appointment. However, if you need some help shuffling the furniture off of it, our technicians are happy to assist with that.
Fibre Tech Carpet Care Ltd. is equipped with a large area rug cleaning facility where our experienced technicians will take their time assessing, treating and cleaning your area rug. Depending on the condition and what your area rug is made of, it can take anywhere from just a few days up to a few weeks to clean your rug, but we’ll communicate an estimated turnaround time when you book.
Why do area rugs take longer than wall to wall carpet?
Increased soil factor: Area rugs are designed to absorb and trap soil, which is why they’re a favorite for high traffic areas – they keep the rest of your house clean! In fact, by the time you start to notice that it’s time for them to be cleaned, they are actually quite soiled.
Fringing: Although it’s a beautiful addition to any area rug, it is a magnet for dirt and dust. Fringing is usually a natural fibre (often cotton) and needs to be cleaned by hand with a special solution to restore it to its former glory.
Fibre type: Area rugs come in a variety of fibres from Synthetic to wool, all the way to fine oriental silks. Most of these area rugs (with the exception of synthetic) have to be cleaned by hand to avoid damage to the delicate, natural fibers.
Drying: Depending on fibre type, we may need to accelerate the drying process of your area rug (by increasing air movement) or it may need to be hung to dry for best results.
As with all of our carpet cleaning services, we offer free estimates! All we need to know are the dimensions and what your area rug is made of. Not sure? Oftentimes there is a tag on the back with this information.

There are 2 primary methods of residential carpet cleaning in Victoria. These methods are called Dry Cleaning or Steam Cleaning Extraction. Many people believe that dry cleaning your carpet is like dry cleaning your clothes. This is not true, all carpet cleaning methods use water. There are currently 3 types of carpet dry cleaning available.
The first method, dry foam cleaning, involves applying carpet shampoo, allowing to dry then vacuum. Imagine applying shampoo to your hair then allowing it to dry and trying to vacuum it out! Engaging a carpet cleaning company that uses this method will result in residual soap residue on your carpet. For this reason, Dry foam cleaning will not effectively clean your carpets.
The 2nd method is dry-chemical carpet cleaning, similar to the dry foam method. When the dry-chemical is applied with a machine and cotton bonnet, it is supposed to absorb the dirt. Unfortunately, this carpet cleaning method is similar to using a towel to remove dirt from your carpet. Dry chemical is not effective in extracting contaminates.
The final type of dry cleaning carpet is the dry compound method. This method involves spreading an absorbent mixture that looks like sawdust onto your carpets. A machine then brushes this mixture into the carpet, which in theory, forces dirt to absorb into the mixture. When this mixture has dried, vacuums are used to suck the cleaning compound from your carpets. Since your carpets are not rinsed in any way, this method is also not an effective way to clean your carpets.
Only the best carpet cleaning companies in Victoria use the steam cleaning extraction system recommended by Shaw Industries. Steam cleaning extraction is also known as hot water extraction and uses 210 degrees heated water at high pressure to thoroughly rinse carpet fibers. This process extracts dirt, bacteria and dust mites from carpeting leaving a fresh citrus smell.

Carpet cleaning is a topic of much confusion. In fact, there are so many misconceptions about carpet cleaning and it may be difficult choosing the best carpet cleaning company in Victoria?
Dirt is abrasive to your carpet fibers and acts like sandpaper, this causes damage to the carpet fibers every time you walk on them. For this reason, high traffic areas will wear quicker and look worn sooner. The lifespan of a dirty carpet is much shorter than the lifespan of clean carpet. Although routine vacuuming will help, it is not enough to remove dirt and other contaminants at the base of the carpet.
We all know the outdoor environment contains contaminants such as air pollution, pollen, bacteria, fungus, cigarette smoke and car exhaust. These contaminants are walked onto your carpet and become embedded. Only steam cleaning is effective enough to draw out these contaminants from carpet fibers at the base. Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 different chemical compounds, and 43 of them are known to cause cancer. Even if you don’t smoke, these chemicals still get tracked into homes. If you suffer from Allergies, asthma or breathing problems you may experience some relief after having your carpet and upholstery professionally cleaned by Fibre Tech Carpet Care Ltd.
At Fibre Tech Carpet Care Ltd. we use a mobile truck mounted steam cleaning extraction system that utilizes hot water, pressure, and shampoo to clean carpets. Our steam cleaning service is the most advanced method of shampooing carpet. For this reason, we can confidently stake our claim as Victorias best steam cleaning company.

SHAW CARPET CLEANING
In addition to frequent vacuuming, it’s important to clean your carpet on a regular basis. Cleaning systems will remove the oily, sticky soil that vacuums can’t take out, and will help keep your carpet looking great over time.
Cleaning systems target the soils that result from cooking vapors, air pollution, and tracked-in dirt. The particles of oily soil deposited on carpet fibers can cause gradual but significant dulling of colors. The color isn’t lost, but is hidden under the film. If this type of soil is allowed to accumulate, it begins to attract and hold the dry soil.
Importance of a cleaning schedule
If the carpet is cleaned before it becomes too unsightly, the cleaning chore will be easier and more successful. Carpet in a typical household should be cleaned every 12 to 18 months, depending on the number of residents and amount of activity.
Choosing the proper cleaning system is important. Some systems may leave residues which accelerate re-soiling and defeats the whole purpose of cleaning.

MISTAKE #1: You choose a carpet cleaner based on equipment alone. No question, your carpet cleaner needs first-rate equipment. But he also needs something else. He needs employees who are skilled at operating that equipment. Many companies own hot-water extractors, but very few companies teach their employees how to use them properly. The best way to know that the carpet cleaners employees have been properly trained is to make sure the cleaner has been certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). Before you choose a carpet cleaner, ask to see the technicians IICRC certification card. Many technichian's are certified but have little "on the field" experience, Ask for a technician who has been certified and cleaning for atleast 5 years!
MISTAKE #2: You choose a carpet cleaner based on low price. Low price could be a problem in three ways: (1) Low price can be the bait that attracts your phone call. But once the cleaner gets into your home, he pressures you into a much more expensive job. (2) Low price can be for single-process cleaning. Rarely does the consumer know what this means and, when told, asks for dual-process cleaning instead, which costs more. (3) Low price means the carpet cleaner has cheap equipment, which will not effectively clean your carpet.
MISTAKE #3: You choose a carpet cleaner based on a single telephone call. Instead, invite the person to your home and ask for a specific written quotation. Then you'll know exactly what the carpet cleaner recommends and you won't be the victim of high pressure tactics when the technician steps into your living room.
MISTAKE #4: You choose a carpet cleaner who doesn't offer a money-back guarantee. In my view, every carpet cleaning company should be fully accountable for its work. And if you aren't pleased with the job in every way, you shouldn't have to pay for it. Period. Not all carpet cleaners offer a guarantee. Or, if they do, the guarantee may be "limited". Ask the carpet cleaner if he offers a money-back guarantee and then make sure the carpet cleaner includes his guarantee on his written quotation.
MISTAKE #5: You choose a carpet cleaner with out getting comments from his other clients. Any carpet cleaner can say anything about his past jobs. And, sadly, some of what he says may not be true. Make sure you ask for references or read comments from current customers so you can depend on the carpet cleaner and his work.
MISTAKE #6: You choose a carpet cleaner who isn't certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). If your carpet cleaner isn't a close friend, you may not know whether he has the knowledge or experience to clean your carpet well. If you want to be sure you're hiring a competent professional, make sure hes IICRC certified. The carpet cleaner must earn that certification through study, experience and successful completion of formal, written examinations. In effect, cleaners who are certified by the IICRC have earned a college degree in carpet cleaning.

WARNING: Some dry cleaning companies are now incorporating extraction. Be sure that your carpet will be thoroughly flushed with fresh water, not water with cleaning solution in it. Also make sure the temperature is sufficient to kill bacteria and that the suction is powerful enough not to leave your carpet overly damp, wimpy suction just doesn't cut it!
